How I Used UGC to Help a Local Farm Build Trust Online

When most people hear the term “UGC content,” they immediately think of beauty brands, influencers, or trendy product videos.

But one of the most impactful projects I’ve worked on as a social media manager was actually for a local cattle farm: Southridge Farms.

This project reminded me that user-generated style content isn’t about trends or aesthetics alone. It’s about trust. And honestly, trust is what marketing today is really built on.

As a social media manager, I’m constantly thinking about how to make businesses feel more human online. Consumers are overwhelmed with polished ads and perfectly curated branding. What people actually respond to now is authenticity. They want to feel connected to the people behind a business.

That’s exactly the direction we took with Southridge Farms.

Instead of creating overly polished corporate-style content, I focused on capturing the real personality behind the brand. The strategy centered around authentic video content, storytelling, lifestyle visuals, and educational messaging that felt approachable and natural.

We leaned heavily into:

  • behind-the-scenes farm footage

  • everyday moments

  • cattle and pasture visuals

  • voiceovers about food transparency

  • content focused on knowing where your food comes from

One of the biggest things I noticed while working on this project was how powerful relatable content can be, especially in the agriculture industry. People genuinely want to see the process. They want to understand the story behind the product they’re buying. They want to feel connected to the land, the family, and the lifestyle behind the brand.

That’s why UGC-style content worked so well here.

The content didn’t feel like traditional advertising. It felt personal. It felt honest. And because of that, it created stronger engagement and trust with viewers.

This project also reinforced something I talk about often with clients: the best-performing content usually doesn’t look like a commercial. It feels like a real moment.

As someone who specializes in short-form video and social-first marketing, projects like Southridge Farms are my favorite because they allow me to blend strategy with storytelling. It’s not just about posting content. It’s about helping businesses show people who they really are.

And honestly, that’s where the magic happens online now.
